We're not your average architectural firm. At Tinto Architecture, Interiors and You, it’s the ‘You’ part that makes us different.
At the core of every project we undertake a human-centred design approach. Whether it’s a commercial building, a retail store, or a house extension, the space will be used by people and that’s why we put them at the heart of the process.
Since we began in 2004 our desire has always been to create places and spaces for people that inspire. From our offices in Aberdeen and Edinburgh, the team delivers a range of architectural services for the retail, residential and commercial markets to local, national and international clients.
We believe passionately that our job as architects is to add value to the lives of the people who use the buildings we design. After all, your property is one of the largest investments you will ever make.
We’re proud of our team here at Tinto. They're a collection of wonderful, creative, passionate professionals. So whoever you deal with day to day, you can be sure you’ll receive a Tinto Design.
Richard is the founder and leader of Team Tinto. A true creative and design thinker he was architecturally trained at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, Robert Gordon University in Aberdeen.
Leading from the front he provides the creative flair associated with Tinto and his idealistic approach strives for the best at every level. His passion is people and the relationships with customers marks the success of the practice and a constant drive for innovation in the industry keeps his team at the forefront of it.
Away from work, Richard loves spending time with his wife Lynsey, who regularly beats him on the golf course. He’s also a long-suffering Dons fan and longs for the day when they once again rule the roost in Scotland.
Aileen joined Tinto Architecture in March 2016 as Business Manager. Until then, architecture was one of the few industries Aileen had not worked in, having previously been involved in the public sector, oil & gas (both for operator and service providers), manufacturing, hospitality and retail.
At Tinto, Aileen is responsible for supporting the Leadership Team with all aspects of the business. She also oversees the finance team and is the first point of contact for customers, old and new. Her inspiration comes from being a small clog in a big wheel, and leaves the office at the end of each week knowing she has played her part in the success of the business.
Outside of work her two ‘little’ girls keep her busy although they are definitely now ‘young adults in training’. She enjoys socialising with family and friends, in particular meeting for a bite to eat, going to the cinema or theatre and is lucky enough to live in a beautiful area of Aberdeen, where she enjoys walking along the riverside with its ever changing landscape.

Mark graduated with a Masters in Architecture from the Scott Sutherland School, Robert Gordon University, in 2010, and joined Tinto Architecture in 2015.
A member of the ARB, RIBA, and RIAS, and with experience working on a wide variety of projects, Mark works on both commercial & residential projects and brings a design-driven enthusiasm backed up with an eye for detailing and a compulsion to ensure things are done ‘just right’.
Mark is an admirer of the clean lines, simple forms and clean palette associated with the Modernist architectural movement, and is a firm believer that the simplest solutions can often prove to be the most appropriate.
Away from work, Mark is a keen swimmer and cyclist. He also has a keen interest in wildlife and enjoys to travel - he has visited the Galapagos Islands and Svalbard in the last couple of years, as well as central Asia, Mongolia and China previously, taking in the both the landscapes, the wildlife and of course, the architecture.

Aleksandra (Ola) Fidos
Architect M.Arch ARB RIAS RIBA
Aleksandra (Ola) Fidos is originally from Poland. She graduated with a Masters in Architecture from Dessau Institute of Architecture at Hochschule Anhalt in Germany, and from the Technical University of Lodz, Poland in 2004. She joined Tinto in 2014.
Ola lived in Ireland for eight years working for large and small companies in Galway and Dublin, where she was involved in wide range of projects, including mixed use, industrial, residential, education, conservation and interior design.
She is devoted to sustainable design and has completed the Passive House Designer course. In her design she aims to create a dialogue with the environment and provide the best solution for the user, not shying away from unconventional or one-off solutions.
Ola is influenced by minimalist architecture. She believes that functional, paired down design, sensitivity to building’s context and attention to detail results in buildings that achieve high quality spaces and enhance their surroundings, whether this is in an urban or rural environment.
Outside work Ola’s interest include art, photography and hiking. In 2016 she designed and, together with team Tinto, completed ‘Glow Wullie', which was a part of the Oor Wullie Bucket Trail event in Dundee.
