Having operated for the past 5 years as part of The Co-operative Food family, Aberfeldy was considered a flagship project.
TINTO were appointed to develop the initial designs and deliver the project ensuring integration of the existing retail store, new superstore and refurbishment of the petrol forecourt. With a long history of planning objections and technical challenges, it would prove to demonstrate our full suite of capabilities as a studio.

Taking a tired and uncared-for retail unit in the heart of Aberfeldy and giving it the due attention it sorely needed, while ensuring it meshed well with the traditional architecture of the area and served the local people in the best ways possible – this was our mission.
A uniquely delivered project that serves the busy town of Aberfeldy well for the future, the new store effortlessly embodies the traditional architecture of the area. It has transformed a prominent but rundown site into a modern focal point for shoppers – with easy parking, petrol facilities and access to a cash machine. With no major retailer within 20 miles, the store is a real success for The Co-operative Group and an essential amenity for the wider community.
