Crown Street

Continuing working with developer clients in their efforts to revitalise the City Centre, we have transformed another prominent building in a prime location of Aberdeen. This project is a great example of how attention to detail and being mindful of a buildings history can come together with impressive results.

The three luxury apartments have brought life back into one of the city’s famous granite buildings, without taking away from any of the traditional features of the buildings exterior and surrounding areas. The new plan was worked into the existing building as efficiently as possible, deciding the layouts of the apartments to ensure no additional windows needed to be added. Only a second dormer was added on the top floor to mirror the existing one, which allowed for a home office to be included in the space.

As well as contemporary finishes to a high standard, the residents will also have access to green amenity areas, and a private garden/terrace area for the lower ground residents.

The building was in poor condition having been vacant for a number of years with no maintenance, and there was a lot of repair work required to ensure it was secure. Many of the original features such as the windows, stained glass, internal doors and door facings have been restored to keep some of the traditional character within the modern apartments.

We are currently working on a very exciting phase 2 of this project, a self-contained cottage. Sitting opposite the courtyard from the apartments, we have retained and repaired the existing structure and added a first-floor extension to create a unique home in the city centre!
