12 Months of TINTO
There's no doubt that the last 12 months have been a very different and challenging time for everyone, so we wanted to end the year on a positive note by taking a look back at some of the exciting projects we have been working on!
We started off the year with some inspiring 3D visuals of a bespoke design for the Whisky Hammer in Ellon. Our clients wanted a striking reception area to welcome their customers, and a retail space to show as much of their products as possible. Their main focus was the tasting room, with features such as the hidden bottle storage and extending tasting table.
Another key project was an exciting shop re-fit that started on site for Rebel Ink. We designed the newly refurbished reception, front area and ground floor studio, and were thrilled to see this project nearing completion and for the artists re-opening!
At the Aberdeen Society of Architects Awards, TINTO won the Best Interior Award for our work on Vovem! We also received a further commendation for Vovem in the commercial category! We were delighted to have been recognised for our work on a project like this. The judges said that the close working relationship between TINTO and the client was clearly visible in the design - something we pride ourselves on!
Over 2020, TINTO had lots of new additions join the team, the first of which was Wendy, who joined as our Business Lead. Wendy is responsible for supporting and facilitating TINTO’s growth plans and helping to bring the vision to life, and she has already made a huge difference to the business and our team. Lucy joined our team as an Architectural Assistant in March, and towards the end of the year, we added a further five new members with diverse backgrounds and a wide range of skills to our team - from technical detail to 3D interior visualisation and design!
Lockdown saw us all working in a new way – from home and virtually! It was something we never thought would become normal, but we have now adjusted to this as part of our routines. We were also able to offer Virtual Consultations to our clients, where they were able to talk through their project and discuss ideas with our team, all socially-distant and conveniently from their homes.
It has been very inspiring and encouraging to work with clients whose values align with our own, and we are looking forward to seeing some of these project progress next year! TINTO have been working on an exciting and innovative project with XUSA in Aberdeen, which embodies the concept of conscious living, aiming to foster connection, enhance spontaneous interactions and incorporate a co-working space within a residential development.
We were very excited to have been part of the team that has restored 139 Union Street. The Grade C listed building was originally abandoned offices, and we have helped transform the space into six beautiful high-end apartments in the heart of the city centre.
Work at Hamilton Road in Motherwell was able get back on track for completion this month after some delays due to COVID-19. Another high-end residential project of ours, which will offer six high specification two-bedroom apartments, with private terraces or gardens. This project shows what can be accomplished with a constrained brownfield site in a city centre.
One of the buildings we transformed this year was a family home in Banchory. Our clients wanted to upgrade the overall layout of their house to create more modern, bright, open plan area for their whole family to enjoy. We loved the way this project turned out, and are glad to hear that our clients enjoyed and appreciated our support on the journey to create their dream home.
We introduced our new brand logo and website in October, after months of hard work and planning. Lockdown gave us a chance to reflect on the business, and we felt that it was time to freshen up the look and the feel and narrative around what we do, as well as creating a recognisable brand that represents us in the right way – aligning with our company values and what we put into every project we work on.
Although different and at times challenging, it has been a rewarding year at TINTO, and we are looking forward to 2021 to continue transforming our clients worlds!
