Luca and Serena have lived in Milan and London, and now Aberdeen is the place they choose to call home. The pair came to the Tinto team to help them create a family home that suits their life and style, and includes treasured pieces they’ve collected from their travels around the world.

They both love the location and views the property has, but they wanted a more open-plan living space that they could enjoy family life in, with their two daughters and dog, entertain friends, relax and enjoy the fire with a glass of wine.

Our team worked closely with Luca and Serena to create a bright and functional space, and inspiring and inviting home that the whole family loves.

We designed and created beautiful spaces filled with style and personality, cleverly using feature elements including wallpaper, lighting, furniture and more, to create the perfect looks in each room.

The hallway was originally narrow and didn’t feel welcoming. The pair wanted guests to be able to walk in and appreciate the space, so we used space planning techniques to alter this, and make it more inviting. We also incorporated clever storage solutions.

The living spaces were originally all individual. The family wanted one open-plan space that they could use as a family and enjoy time with friends. We opened up the space, and now you’re able to see the Deeside countryside throughout the entire living area. And we connected each of the different living spaces with a minimal material palette and sleek finish.

The kitchen was designed using the high quality next125 product, and the look we created has resulted in a space that is not only functional, but is stylish and ideal for family life and entertaining.

Serena: “We feel lucky to have chosen Tinto Architecture for creating our beautiful home. We met Richard at the beginning of our project and we were impressed by his creativity and passion.

“The project for our house was quite big, including structural works and interior design, but the Tinto team has been great in all these areas.

“We have been particularly impressed by the benefits of having an Interior Designer, Nina, who helped us on our entire journey. She was perfect in understanding our tastes and styles but at the same time she helped us to explore more interesting choices.

One of our favourite rooms is the kitchen. It is now an amazing space which is complemented incredibly well by the living area. It has been transformed into a social space but also really practical. All complemented very well with the external views – bringing the outside in.

It is worth mentioning the upstairs toilet too, it is now a lovely, quirky room with an amazing wallpaper.
